Prepress

This section contains all the printing preparation information needed to ensure a smooth production process. Here you will find technical requirements, ICC profiles for colour management and detailed instructions on how to properly prepare and submit production files.

To view relevant information, select Falun (Sweden), Klaipėda (Lithuania) or Viborg (Denmark) from the menu below.

File submission

The way your files are submitted depends on where your book will be printed: Falun, Klaipėda or Viborg.

Depending on the location selected, different file transfer solutions are applied, designed to ensure secure, reliable and smooth data transfer.

If you have any questions about the most appropriate way of submitting files or technical requirements, it is recommended that you contact your project manager or customer service team who will provide clear guidelines and help to ensure the smooth preparation of the project for production.

In order to make a PDF that goes through our production in the best possible way, we have created a manual. The file contains all the information to create a print-ready PDF, such as ICC profiles, color settings and instructions, etc.

How to create a PDF

Please download: ScandBook Prepress Specification (zip)

Prepress Klaipeda, Lithuania

Our professional prepress specialists will help you to prepare your files for printing. Please read our prepress specifications before sending files to our server.

Printing plate preparation

Our printing house uses Kodak equipment for the printing plates preparation. Plates are digitally made using Kodak Magnus VLF, Kodak Magnus 800 and Cron TP-6064H CTPs. Our whole workflow is based on Kodak Prinergy software.

Print ready file formats

We usually work with print ready PDF files that meet PDF/X-4 standard. Our current software allows us to work with 1.6 and higher versions of PDF files that have transparencies, without flattening them.

Images that are in the RGB color space will be automatically converted to the CMYK color space using FOGRA51 or FOGRA52 characterization data sets depending on the paper type.

Production of Hardproofs

We produce hardproofs according to ISO 12647-2:2013 offset press standard and ensure their high quality. Hardproofs are printed using Efi Fiery XF software and Canon iPF6400S high quality inkjet printer.
